21 Weeks!

Our baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. (According to the ultrasound tech the baby is actually 15 oz.) I am starting to feel like he's practicing martial arts as his initial fluttering movements are turning into full-fledged kicks and nudges. I am also discovering a pattern to his activity as I am getting to know him better. He is most active after I eat a meal, or sugar. In other developments, my baby's eyebrows and lids are present now.

My weight is starting to slowly climb back up to my beginning weight, probably because I have a massive baby growing inside me. I am also starting to get more hungry more often. I will eat a full meal and stuff my self silly and a hour later I will be starving again. No weird cravings yet if anything it is sugar; candy and root beer!

Gordon and I went to Babies R Us today and registered. Wow, it was really overwhelming! I was so exhausted and I can't believe how much stuff little babies need. Where the heck am I going to put all of it??
As you can see from the picture, the baby bump is in full swing!

Did you guess the gender correctly?

Oh BOY!!

We had our 20 week ultrasound today and it looks like we are having a BOY! We would have been happy with either result but we are ecstatic it's a boy! He made us work to see his parts but about 10 minutes of trying he finally gave us the money shot! We even got a little wave to the camera today, its like he knew we were looking at him. Bring on the BLUE!

19 Weeks

Our baby's sensory development is exploding! The brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that it may be able to hear my voice now. The baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. The arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of the body now. It's kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on the scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on the skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Starting to feel more movement lately, today especially! I'm feeling really good not much going on other than a butterfly here and there!

Our ultra sound is a week from Tuesday!!! I am so excited!!!

18 weeks

Head to rump, our baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and it weighs almost 7 ounces. It's busy flexing it's arms and legs — movements that I will start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. The blood vessels are visible through the thin skin, and the baby's ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from it's head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around the nerves, a process that will continue for a year after it is born. If we're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If we're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from view during an ultrasound.

17 weeks

Our baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — the lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Our baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and it's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. It can move it's joints, and the sweat glands are starting to develop.

Next up: 20 week ultrasound Aug. 25th (also when we *hopefully* will be able to find out the sex!)

I'm feeling good, not much going on on my end of the deal. I officially can not lay on my stomach with out it being totally awkward. No movements lately, or none that I notice anyways.

Booger (my oldest cat) I think has finally noticed something is different with me. She has become a super love bug and always wants to be around me. Until now she has never wanted anything to do with me in the 4 years I have had her, unless it's feeding time. Karma probably knew before I knew, she follows me around everywhere I go, sleeps on the floor by my side of the bed and always wants to sit by or on me. As for Optimus, well he marches to his own beat and probably forgets that he lives with anyone until they walk by.
